Bach and Benedetto Marcello with music by living composers Christa Rakich and Kile Smith that draw inspiration from the Renaissance and Baroque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The centerpiece of the program is Bach&#8217;s early cantata,&nbsp;<em>Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu dir, &#8220;<\/em>Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord&#8221;, for chorus and orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will ask for a $15 dollar free-will donation at the door, but hope you attend whether or not you are able to donate.&nbsp; featuring French Baroque composer Jean Gilles&#8217;s &#8220;Diligam te, Domine&#8221; for chorus and orchestra, 20th-century Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera&#8217;s &#8220;Lamentations of Jeremiah&#8221; in collaboration with RVA Baroque featuring music written in honor of St. Cecilia. &nbsp;We sang several works by Henry Purcell including <strong>Welcome to all the pleasures<\/strong>, featuring the full chorus and small ensemble as well Herbert Howells&#8217;&nbsp;<strong>Hail, Bright Cecilia<\/strong>, an elaborate oratorio to the historical figure of Cecilia made up of&nbsp;&nbsp;choruses, solos, duets, and trios for various combination so those voices and accompanying instruments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fall 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our fall 2021 program was titled &#8220;In Remembrance&#8221; and featured music from Maurice Durufl\u00e9 and Josquin de Prez. &nbsp;Josquin&#8217;s energetic&nbsp;<strong>Memor esto <\/strong>opened the program, supposedly written to remind King Louis XII of a benefice he had promised, and had so far failed to deliver, to the composer. &nbsp;The French composer Maurice Durufl\u00e9&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Requiem, Op.9&nbsp;<\/strong>was the centerpiece and undoubtedly one of the great choral masterworks of the twentieth century. &nbsp;The lilting, lyrical work offered both contrast from the more somber choral pieces and a wistful mood the complemented them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring 2020\/Spring 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and necessary social distancing measures, our spring concert was postponed until Spring 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-FINAL.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-FINAL-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"Poster FINAL\" class=\"wp-image-113\" style=\"width:418px;height:auto\" srcset=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-FINAL-231x300.jpg 231w, http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-FINAL-791x1024.jpg 791w, http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-FINAL.jpg 1275w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Spring 2022 performance was a collaboration with Jefferson Baroque presenting Giacomo Carissimi&#8217;s <em>Historia Divits<\/em>, a dramatic oratorio on the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.&nbsp; We also performed Paul Mealor&#8217;s setting of <em>The Beatitudes,&nbsp;<\/em>as well as a new trio sonata arrangement of Chiara Margarita Cozzolani&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>O quam bonum es<\/em>&nbsp;by Raphael Seligmann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chorale also collaborated with the Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale and the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance of Beethoven&#8217;s Ninth Symphony!&nbsp; Peace&nbsp;<\/em>featured Heinrich Sch\u00fctz&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>Musikalische Exequien<\/em>, a moving funerary work from this early German Baroque master, as well as shorter cantatas by Sch\u00fctz and Melissa Dunphy&#8217;s recently-composed&nbsp;<em>Suite Remembrance<\/em> for unaccompanied choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Richmond Concert Chorale presented the second program of its 2018-19 season, Dietrich Buxtehude\u2019s \u201cMembra Jesu Nostri,\u201d April 7 and April 14, joined by the Richmond-based period instrument ensemble, Jefferson Baroque, and members of the St. Benedict Catholic Church Schola Cantorum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fall 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/RCC-Fall-2018-poster-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-101\" style=\"width:426px;height:auto\" srcset=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/RCC-Fall-2018-poster-231x300.jpg 231w, http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/RCC-Fall-2018-poster-791x1024.jpg 791w, http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/RCC-Fall-2018-poster.jpg 1275w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our 2018-2019 season kicked off in November with <strong><em>War and Remembrance<\/em><\/strong>, a program&nbsp;honoring the centennial of the end of World War I, featuring Gerald Finzi&#8217;s <em>Requiem da Camera<\/em>&nbsp;as well as music by Byrd, Janequin, McDowall, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Summer 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July 2018, we performed in collaboration with&nbsp;<strong>Viola da Samba,&nbsp;<\/strong>a European early\/Brazilian music trio, and presented the North American premiere of Jean Kleeb&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Missa Brasileira.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-v1c-218x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-93\" style=\"width:411px;height:auto\" srcset=\"http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-v1c-218x300.jpg 218w, http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-v1c-744x1024.jpg 744w, http:\/\/richmondconcertchorale.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/Poster-v1c.jpg 1455w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Spring 2018 Concert, &#8220;Southern Harmonies,&#8221; a Telemann motet on &#8220;Ein feste Burg,&#8221; Eric Whitacre&#8217;s &#8220;Sainte Chapelle,&#8221; and music by Byrd, Bruckner, Tallis, and others.&nbsp; We enjoyed collaborating with Richmond-based period instrument ensemble Jefferson Baroque for these performances!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Spring 2017 Concert, &#8220;Flight for Heaven&#8221; featured music by J.S.
